English Language Academy

Special Focus Workshops

 Pronunciation Workshop

Our Pronunciation Workshop Offers an intensive study of pronunciation involving the use of the phonetic alphabet of American English, tongue placement of English consonants and vowels, word stress and intonation patterns. Students will practice pronunciation in real-life conversations and in a language lab under the guidance and tutelage of their instructor. Focus is on producing clear speech and eliminating specific pronunciation problems that are common in their native language.

 The Conversation Corner

The Conversation Corner provides an opportunity to help students improve their self-confidence, and develop their conversation strengths and increase their fluency in English. The main focus is on the student's ability to express themselves in everyday situations by means of group discussions, interviews, role-playing, and class presentations. Students will have the opportunity to use their newly learned pronunciation skills, vocabulary, and idioms in real-life situations. They will receive valuable individualized feedback on grammar and pronunciation errors.

  Writing Workshop

Writing in a second language can be a difficult task! Here we will explore some ways to make writing easier and prepare students for the required ESL writing courses. The Writing Workshop provides an opportunity to help students improve their writing skills and master the foundations of good writing from short writing tasks to reports and essays. Using conversation topics and listening and reading materials as input for writing, students acquire the skills to communicate effectively and accurately in written English. Students will maintain a portfolio of work demonstrating their progress.
