Shahan
Nazir - India My name is Shahan Nazir and I am a 27-year-old student
from India, majoring in biology with dentistry as a
career goal. I will graduate from Santa Ana College
in 2004, after which I will transfer to a four-year
university for completion of a bachelor’s degree
and later graduate studies before returning to India.
I chose to study in the U.S., even though it is expensive,
because I believe it is the best educational system
in the world. It is recognized all over the world and
just by studying in the U.S. many excellent doors of
opportunity are opened. My initial thought upon arrival
at the
campus was, “Wow, I am in the best part of the
world, and I am going to love every second of it.”
Santa Ana College has a very experienced and talented
faculty. They are very helpful to students and strive
to make the courses understandable, relevant, and enjoyable.
Students benefit from the smaller class sizes and one-on-one
attention from the instructors. While, I don’t
have a favorite instructor, I have found all of my
instructors genuinely interested in my success as a
student.
Students on campus are friendly and come from many
different backgrounds. I feel very comfortable on campus
and a real part of student life. My favorite places
on campus are the new Business and Computer Building
and the cafeteria. I work as a Student Assistant in
the International Student Center, helping to organize
activities that make fellow international students
feel at home. Excursions, beach parties, concerts,
museum visits and sightseeing are just a few of “get-acquainted” activities
always on the calendar.
I feel that my experiences in the United States are
preparation for my future. I am receiving a superb
academic education, an enriching cross cultural experience
and a solid preparation life and for my career.
