She was born and raised in Havana, Cuba and came to the US as an immigrant.  After a few years in the USA, she decided to become an American citizen and move to California.

She completed a Doctorate degree at Nova University (Education); MA degrees from California State University and California State University Long Beach in two areas--Business: Economics and Spanish/Latin American Literature.
