Welcome to the Citizenship Program

Dear Students,

The decision to become a U.S. naturalized citizen is a big decision with many benefits.  But whether we have become citizens through birth or naturalization, citizenship means belonging, and it is a privilege, a right, and a status worth celebrating!

At times, the process can be challenging, but the Citizenship Program was established to help with the process.  We are here to assist with the application process and provide counsel, forms, photographs and immigration referrals.  We also offer information regarding educational programs at Santa Ana College School of Continuing Education.

There are many benefits to citizenship which include:

1) the right to vote in federal, state and local elections

2) the ability to leave the U.S. and live in other countries for unrestricted periods, and be able to return to the U.S.

3) the opportunity to petition for a wide variety of family members to come into the U.S. as permanent residents

4) the right to not be deported

5) the ability to bring children born abroad, who are under 18 years of age and unmarried to the U.S. and be able to naturalize automatically and

6) many other benefits.

The Citizenship Program has assisted thousands of permanent residents transition to U.S. citizenship, and we would like to help you!  When you are ready to make the transition to U.S. citizenship, the Citizenship Program can help.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sergio Sotelo
Dean of Instruction and Student Services
