Professional Development

The professional development program at Santa Ana College School of Continuing Education is a robust program that includes a series of 150-200 workshops annually through *flex, mentoring, technology training, and a well developed blog and discussion forums.  All faculty are asked to participate.

Flex workshops are offered in the last week of August and first week of January.  Instructors will receive an agreement form and a list of workshops they may attend during these times.  Instructors have an obligation to attend workshops for an equivalent of 1.5 times their weekly assignment.  They will be paid as if they had taught during these weeks.

Instructors may receive pay for all other workshops and training at the non-instructional rate (half the instructional rate).  The pay for these events is dependent on existing budgets.  Limitations will be announced at the beginning of each semester.

Participating on the school blog is easy and informative.  Many discussions about current initiatives and needs of faculty are archived on this site.  There are also interviews of many full-time faculty and administrators.  To access the blog, go to http://basicskills.edublogs.org.

For other resources, go to www.calpro-online.org and www.otan.us

For more information, please see the Professional Faculty Development Handbook or email rob Jenkins at Jenkins_rob@sac.edu.
