Need an ESL Class?
We provide 7 levels of ESL, a collaborative Family Literacy Program primarily for SAUSD parents, and more!
ESL Family Literacy Classes are what you want if your site serves a lot of neighborhood parents with children attending SAUSD. Classes can be scheduled from 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m., and your site will usually need to provide a minimum of two rooms – one for the concurrent babysitting provided by the SAUSD CBET program and one for the Adult ESL classroom. Students will have the opportunity to purchase a recommended class text, and many free materials are provided by SAUSD. Although the adult class focuses on English language acquisition and meets all state standards for community college continuing education level ESL classes, the students will also receive valuable information regarding child emergent literacy, parent education, and parent-child together interaction activities. Participation of SAUSD principals and EL instructors in this program is welcomed!
ESL Classes without the family literacy focus are what you want if your site serves adults 19 and older who do not need the specialized support of the family literacy program.
Specialty Classes such as Writing and Computers, Conversation, Pronunciation, Writing A and Writing B, Citizenship, and Vocational ESL may be added at your site if certain room requirements are met. We also welcome suggestions about which new courses would meet the needs of your community.
