OPEN AUDITIONS FOR THE CABLE TV SHOW

"THE HEARTBREAK CAFÉ"

"The Heartbreak Cafe" is a comedy/drama that has run on cable television in Orange County San Diego and Los Angeles since 1997. Positions are available for actors, extras and crew.

Actors, extras and crew who are chosen for "The Heartbreak Café" must enroll in the 3 unit class "Television Series Production", TV/Video 215, at Santa Ana College. Actors may only register after they have auditioned and been accepted. Crew members must have an interview with the instructor prior to being accepted and registering for the class. Rehearsals and tapings will run for 16 weeks and hours will vary. It will be necessary for everyone to be on time and stay until the conclusion, so the entire day should be blocked out. Agents for the actors must be notified accordingly.

ACTORS

Being selected as an actor on the show is based on auditions. Applicants should be prepared to perform a one to two-minute monologue and must bring a picture and resume to the audition (Polaroid and snapshot pictures are acceptable). Auditions will be performed for the producers and directors of the show. Callbacks for those selected will be announced soon after.

Three to four episodes will be produced during each semester. Actors will appear in at least two of the episodes.

AS AN ACTOR YOU WILL:

  • Have exposure on television in ten cable markets in Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange counties
  • Be seen by casting directors, agents, and directors for independent films
  • Work in a four camera studio format
  • Have the opportunity to purchase copies of the shows for your demo reels
  • Learn all technical and acting skills to work on television and film

CREW MEMBERS

Being a crew member is based on an interview with the instructor, Robert Conrad. A passing grade in TV production, or equivalent experience, is required to be considered.

AS A CREW MEMBER YOU WILL:

  • Gain valuable experience working in a four camera studio setup
  • Be involved in the many technical aspects of a TV production such as: lighting, sound, camera operation, pre-production and post-production
