Stephanie Fondren has been a faculty member at Santa Ana College since
1996. Prior to being hired at Santa Ana College Stephanie taught at a number of
local schools: CSULB, Long Beach City College, Golden West College, and Orange
Coast College. Stephanie also coached competitive speaking (Forensics) at Long
Beach City College when the team achieved National success for 2 years in a row.
"I love being at Santa Ana College. Each school has its
own feel to it and Santa Ana is truly one of the best. The students want to learn
and are not afraid to work hard, the faculty and staff are truly student focused,
and we offer some of the most innovative programs around. It is a great environment
to work in!" Stephanie teaches a variety of courses
in the Speech Department and loves to teach in unique or challenging situations.
Her current teaching participation at SAC includes teaching Speech 097 for Non-native
Speakers, Transfer level Speech courses, Honors courses, Freshman Experience and
Learning Communities II Programs, and the Summer Scholars Transfer Institute.
"I love to teach in these programs because they are non-traditional.
I feel I am a good match for these unique situations because I love a good challenge,
am energetic, tend to be nurturing, and I think the teaching/learning environment
can be fun." Ms Fondren strives to incorporate real
life experiences in her classroom and learning experiences. Communication touches
all aspects of life and the best examples are not in a textbook! Stephanie says
that if she is remembered by students as an enthusiastic teacher who really cares
about her students and what they learn she would be happy!
