David Lopez, professor of Music and Ethnic
Studies, holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in music
performance from the University of Arizona. Mr. Lopez
is an accomplished woodwind specialist in both jazz
and classical idioms. He has toured and performed nationally
and internationally as a featured soloist or ensemble
member with various orchestras, chamber ensembles and
jazz groups. During his tenure at Santa Ana College Mr. Lopez
has developed a comprehensive instrumental music program.
He currently directs a wide variety of performing ensembles;
including a Baroque/Classical Chamber Ensemble, the
Concert Band, the Latin Jazz Ensemble, ‘Don’
Mariachi and the Chamber Woodwind Ensemble. Mr. Lopez
is in his ninth year at Santa Ana College and is currently
the Chair of the Ethnic Studies Department.
