Elliott Jones is the Director of Choral Music at Santa
Ana College. Prior to his arrival at Santa Ana, he directed
middle school, high school, and college choirs in Arizona,
New Mexico, and Florida. He received the Bachelor of Arts
and Master of Music degrees from Arizona State University,
and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting
from the University of Miami. In addition to his conducting,
Elliott is an active composer. His piece for TTBB choir,
Under the Wide and Starry Sky, is published by
Walton Music.
Here at Santa Ana College, Dr. Jones conducts three
choral ensembles: the Concert Choir, the Chamber Choir,
and the Santa Ana Singers. The Concert Choir is a non-auditioned
ensemble that performs a wide variety of styles and
genres. Past concerts have included such pieces as John
Ruters For the Beauty of the Earth, Robert
Shaws arrangement of Saints Bound for Heaven,
and Emma Lou Diemers Three Madrigals. The
Santa Ana Singers is also a choir that currently requires
no audition - just sign up, come to practice, and sing!
The Singers focus on larger choral masterworks ranging
from the Baroque to Contemporary and have performed
such works as Vivaldis Gloria, Mozarts
Regina Coeli, Schuberts Mass in F,
and Brahms Schicksalslied. The Chamber
Choir is the smallest of the three ensembles and does
require an audition. Chamber Choirs repertoire
focuses on, but is certainly not limited to, a cappella
music of the Renaissance and 20th Century. Recent performances
have included Benjamin Brittens Hymn to the
Virgin, John Farmers Fair Phyllis,
Gerald Kemners Now Shout, and Carlo Gesualdos
Occhi Del Mio Cor Vita. If you are interested
in further audition information or information on any
of the fine Santa Ana College choirs, please contact
Dr. Jones either by phone or email. Rehearsal times
