Overview of the Web

The World-Wide Web (WWW) contains a multitude of electronic documents residing on computers around the world. A document on the Web is often referred to as a Web page. A Web site is a collection of many Web pages. Usually, a Web site has an introductory Web page, known as a homepage, that explains the purpose, content, and organization of the Web site. You can think of the homepage as a table of contents for the Web site.

Hypertext links in Web pages allow users to jump from one document to another.
