Five Wrestlers Qualify for State Championships

SANTA ANA, CA – The Santa Ana College (SAC) wrestling team will be sending five individual wrestlers to the State Championships in Fresno following the Southern California Wrestling Regional Championships.

Jose Serrato was the top-finisher for the Dons as he claimed the 149 pound weight class championship. Steve Sohanaki will join Serrato in Fresno as he finished in second place in the 184 pound weight class.

Other SAC wrestlers who qualified include Sean Barbour (157 pounds) and Robert Elias (282 pounds). Anthony Frank was a medalist in the 125 pounds weight class but did not advance to the State Championships because he was challenged by, and lost to, the seventh place finisher.

The California Community College Wrestling State Championships will be held Saturday, December 8 at Fresno City College.
