Number Three Dons Defeat Number Four Palomar

SANTA ANA , CA – Santa Ana College (SAC) took the lead at 9-6 off of a Palomar College forfeit and never looked back as they went on to defeat Palomar 25-16 in a South Coast Conference wrestling dual. Palomar won the first two matches in the 184-pound weight class and the 197-pound weight class to take a quick 6-0 lead over the Dons.

Tyler Porras (Wesmont Campbell HS) put the Dons on the board with a 6-2 victory in the heavyweight division. The next match was a forfeit for Palomar since they did not have a 125-pound wrestler to take on the number one wrestler in that weight class, Ivan Sanchez (Santiago HS). Gabe Aguilar (Mater Dei HS) extended the Dons' lead to 15-6 when he won by pinning his opponent in the third period in the 133-pound weight class.

Jose Serrato (Santa Ana HS) also won for the Dons as he defeated his opponent 12-1 in the 141-pound weight class followed by another pin for the Dons, this one by Devin Velasquez (Tascosa HS) in the 157-pound weight class. Palomar won the final two matches to cut the score to 25-16, however the Dons had already clinched the victory with Velasquez's pin.
