Santa Ana 's Wrestling Team Transfers Six
Athletes to Four-Year Universities

SANTA ANA , CA – Six student-athletes from last year's wrestling team at Santa Ana College will continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year universities. Four members from the team will move on together at Lindenwood University in Missouri with one athlete transferring to Briar Cliff University in Iowa and another to Cal State Fullerton. The six students transferring to four-year universities represent five of the eight sophomores from last year's squad, with two more sophomores expecting to sign as well.

Freshman Mike O'Hara (149; Redlands East Valley HS), sophomores Brian Judd (184; Tustin HS), Rudy Justo (133; Santa Ana HS) and heavyweight Juan Rodriguez (Katella HS) have all signed with Lindenwood University which competes in the Heart of American Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics II.

Also signing to a four-year university is heavyweight sophomore Humberto Gonzalez (Santa Ana HS) who signed with Briar Cliff University . Briarcliff is also a NAIA II school that competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Rounding out the list is sophomore Jose Hernandez (125; Santa Ana HS) who will be transferring to Cal State Fullerton after the fall semester. Hernandez will wrestle for the Titans in a Division-I program in the Big West.

In 2005 the team won its first state championship since 1974, had five wrestlers earn All-American honors and head coach Vince Silva was named the California Community College Commission on Athletics Wrestling Coach of the Year.
