Jeff Clingan
Jeff Clingan
Head Coach
1st year

Jeff Clingan begins his first season as the head coach of the Santa Ana College (SAC) women’s cross country and track & field programs.

Prior to joining the Santa Ana College coaching staff, Clingan had been associated with the Cerritos College's cross country and track & field programs for over 25 years. He led the Falcons' 2003 men's track & field team to a fifth-place finish at the California Community College Commission On Athletics State Championships and a sixth-place showing at the Southern California Regional meet. This past season he served as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's track & field teams.

Clingan first joined the Cerritos College track & field coaching staff in 1979 and served until 1981. He returned in 1985 and was an assistant until 1988. Most recently, Clingan served as a track & field coach for the last decade and has been either the men's or women's cross-country coach since 1990.

In 1999, Clingan was recognized as the South Coast Conference (SCC) Men's Cross Country Co-Coach of the Year, while in 2000 he shared SCC
Track & Field Coach of the Year honors with Doug Wells, the director of the Cerritos College track & field program.

As a student-athlete, Clingan prepped at Warren High School ( Downey, CA) where he won the 1975 CIF Southern Section triple jump title and placed fourth at the CIF State Championships. Following high school, Clingan enrolled at Cerritos College and excelled as a member of the college track & field team. In 1977, he was named Cerritos College 's Athlete of the Year and his name can still be found in the Falcon recordbook where he ranks second in both the triple jump and long jump.

Upon graduation from Cerritos College, he transferred to California State University, Long Beach, where he earned his bachelor's degree in physical education. He went on to earn his master's degree in physical education from Azusa Pacific University.

Clingan and his wife, Carolyn, live in Corona with their three children – Tim, Molly and Emily.
