Zapata Qualifies to Run at State Championships

WALNUT, CA - Santa Ana College freshman Diana Zapata finished in 40th place out of 233 runners with a time of 20:10.70 at the 2007 Southern California Community College Cross Country Championships at Mt. San Antonio College. Zapata qualified to run in the California Cross Country Championships on Nov. 17 at Woodward Park in Fresno, CA.

The Dons finished in 30th place with 741 points as a team. Freshman Brittany Buenrostro (Santa Ana HS) finished in 134th place (22:43.30) followed by freshman Carolina Solis (Montgomery HS) in 191st place (25:02.10), freshman Carmen Truong in 205th place (25:49.30) and freshman Melvis Castaneda in 217th place (27:46.20).

Glendale College finished in first place with 66 points and Crystal Reed of Orange Coast College took home individual honors with a first place time of 17:19.80.
