Van Horne Leads SAC to Win over Orange Coast

SANTA ANA, CA
- Sara Van Horne (Katella HS) scored seven goals to lead the Santa Ana College (SAC) women's water polo team to a 13-11 victory over Orange Coast College (OCC) in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match Wednesday afternoon at the SAC Pool.

With the teams tied at 2-2 at the end of the first quarter, the Dons (17-6, 4-1 OEC) went on a 6-3 run in the second quarter to take an 8-5 lead into halftime. Van Horne scored three goals in the second quarter to lead the SAC offense. The Pirates went on a 4-2 run in the third quarter to pull within 10-9, but SAC held on in the fourth quarter to win by two goals.

Jenna Natalizio (Irvine HS) finished with two goals for SAC, while Karli Nihei (Fountain Valley HS), Estela Jimenez (Saddleback HS), Rose Sanchez (Carlsbad HS) and Stephanie Sasaki (Valencia HS) each chipped in with one goal. Goalkeeper Bianca Kibby (Valencia HS) made seven saves in the win for the Dons.

Annie Le led the Pirates with four goals, followed by Samantha Lane , Nicole Doherty and Keeley McCormack who each finished with two goals. Nikki Armendariz had eight stops in goals for OCC.
