Dons Lose Season Opener in Three Games

SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's volleyball team opened its season with a loss to visiting San Diego City College (SDCC) in three games, 30-27, 30-26 and 30-21.

The Dons held a late lead at 26-23 in the first game after several ties before SDCC scored six straight points to take a 29-26 lead over SAC. The Dons scored the next point to cut the lead to 29-27. Unfortunately it was too little too late as SDCC won the game, 30-27.

The second game started similar to the first with the teams trading the lead. SDCC outscored the Dons 5-1 to extend its lead from 18-17 to 23-18 before SAC chipped away at the lead, pulling within two at 25-23. The Dons stayed close before losing the second game 30-26.

In the third game SDCC had leads as large ten points late at 26-16 but SAC battled back to cut the lead to 27-21 before SDCC scored the final three points to seal the victory three games to none.
