SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's volleyball team lost their season opener to visiting San Diego City College in four games.
San Diego City broke a 14-14 tie with an 8-0 run to jump out to a commanding 22-14 lead in the first game. The Knights went on to take the first game by a score of 25-15.
The Knights held several large leads in the second game as well as they went on to take a 2-0 lead in the match by winning the second game 25-17.
The Dons came back to control most of the third game with early leads of 9-5, 15-11 and 18-13. San Diego City stormed back to tie the game at 20-20 before the Dons pulled ahead to win the game 25-22.
With the Knights leading the match two games to one, the two teams traded the lead back-and-forth up to a 14-14 tie. The Knights broke the tie and went on to win the game, and the match by a score of 25-19.
Andrea Gallardo led the Dons with three service aces and 16 digs with Teuila Palm adding 10 kills while Yesica Garcia had five blocks, three solo.
