SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's volleyball team lost to visiting Cypress College in four games in an Orange Empire Conference match. The loss dropped the Dons to 4-10 on the season and 1-8 in conference play. Cypress improves 7-15 with the victory and 3-7 in conference.
The teams traded the lead up to a 10-10 tie before Cypress pulled out to a 17-12 lead. The Dons battled back to tie the game 21-21 and took the lead at 22-21. However, Cypress outscored SAC 9-3 to win the first game 30-25.
The Dons jumped out to an early 7-1 lead and never looked back in the second game. SAC held a lead as large as 20-10 and eventually won the game 30-22.
Cypress scored the first two points of the third game and led the entire game. SAC closed the gap late but were unable to get closer then seven points as the Chargers took the third game 30-19.
The fourth game started with both teams trading the lead early with SAC holding the early advantage at 11-9. Cypress scored two straight to tie the game at 11-11 before the Dons jumped out to a 17-12 lead. Cypress then outscored the Dons 11-2 to take a 23-19 lead. SAC battled back to tie the game at 26-26 but Cypress scored four of the next five points to win the game, and the match, 30-27.
