Dons Defeat Glendale for Second Straight Win

SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's volleyball team defeated visiting Glendale College in four games to improve to 3-2 on the season as it enters Orange Empire Conference play on Friday against Irvine Valley College. Glendale drops to 6-4 on the season following the loss.

The Dons won the first game 30-25 in a close battle. The two teams traded the lead early in the game before SAC jumped out to a 13-5 lead. Glendale battled back to cut the lead to 28-23 late in the game before the Dons closed out the game at 30-25.

Glendale tied the match at one game apiece in a game that could have gone either way. After the Vaqueros jumped out to a 20-15 lead the Dons cut the lead to 22-21. However it was too late as Glendale pulled away to take the game 30-25.

The third game was just as competitive as the first two as the teams traded the lead early yet again. SAC took the first significant lead at 19-11. The Dons held a 28-23 lead before the Vaqueros stormed back to cut the lead to 28-27. SAC reached game-point at 29-27 but were unable to close out the game as Glendale tied the game at 29-29. The teams traded the lead several more times before SAC won the game 34-32.

SAC closed out the match with a dominant win in the fourth game, defeating Glendale 30-16. The Dons never trailed in the final game as they claimed the victory in four games.

Gina Brock (Katella HS) led the Dons with 14 kills and Diana Quezada (Santa Ana HS) had 42 assists.
