Santa Ana Continues to Show Improvement

SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) volleyball team continues to show improvement as the season comes to an end. The Dons lost to Golden West College in three games today at SAC but improved with each game.

The Dons came out tough in the first game and had an early 5-3 lead. After the Rustlers tied the game at 5-5 they went on a series of runs and went on to beat SAC 30-19. SAC played the Rustlers even tougher in the second game as the teams battled back and forth with Golden West holding a 12-9 lead. The Rustlers then outscored the Dons 11-6 to jump out to a 23-15 lead. SAC was able to pull within seven but ran out of time as the Rustlers went on to win 30-20.

The third and final game was the best game of the night for SAC as they jumped out to an 8-5 lead. After Golden West tied the game at 8-8 the teams traded points for the remainder of the game. Neither team was able to score more than two points in a row. The Rustlers were the last team to score two in a row sealing the victory with a 30-26 win.

Diana Quezada (Santa Ana HS) lead the Dons with 21 assists and 10 digs while Brigina Brock (Katella HS) had eight kills and Susan Balara (Orange Lutheran HS) had another six kills.
