Santa Ana Remains Winless in Conference Play

SANTA ANA, CA - Santa Ana College 's (SAC) volleyball team lost in three straight games to Saddleback College Friday night in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match. The Dons fall to 4-6 with the loss and 0-5 in OEC. The victory improves Saddleback to 3-7 and the Gauchos pick up their first conference win bringing their record to 1-4.

The first game had both teams trading the lead throughout the game up to 15-15. However, Saddleback pulled away and outscored the Dons 15-5 to pick up the first game 30-20. The second game had a similar trend as neither team was able to pull away from the other. Finally, at the end, the Gauchos were able to sustain a run and defeated SAC 30-25.

In the third and final game, the Dons had a strong lead at 19-14 before they were outscored 6-1 with the Gauchos tying the game at 20-20. Saddleback proved to be to strong for the Dons in this game as they went on to take the game with a score of 30-22.

Mabel Tanielu (Santa Ana Valley HS) led the Dons with 24 digs while Brigina Brock (Katella HS) and Tiffany Wickens (Santa Ana Valley HS) both had 11 kills in the loss.
