SANTA ANA, CA – Visiting Orange Coast College needed just over an hour to sweep Santa Ana College , 3-0, in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) women's volleyball action, Friday. The Pirates downed the Lady Dons 30-22, 30-18 and 30-12 to improve to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the league. The loss drops the Lady Dons to 1-9 overall and 0-5 in the league.
Donka Drozd led the Pirates with 17 kills while Samantha Conner finished with 12. Connor also had a game-high five blocks to go along with her 12 kills. Caitlin Parker handed out a game-high 47 assists while Nicole Powers finished with 11 digs.
Nicole Silva led Santa Ana with six kills and 12 digs while Korina Fryslie with 11 digs and five kills. Tiffany Hamilton also had five kills for the Lady Dons. Jennifer Kohlenberger led Santa Ana with 17 assists.
Next: Santa Ana will take to the road to play four straight games away from Cook Gymnasium. The Lady Dons open their four-game road trip at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20 at Fullerton College.

SANTA ANA, CA – Irvine Valley College used a 9-0 run midway through the fourth game to down Santa Ana College , 3-1, in Orange Empire Conference women's volleyball play, Wednesday. After winning games one and two,
30-14 and 30-17, the Lasers dropped game three to the Lady Dons, 30-26, and found themselves in an 18-18 tie with Santa Ana in game four.
Following a timeout, Irvine Valley ran off nine straight points to take a 27-18 advantage before winning game four, 30-20. The loss drops the Lady Dons to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the OEC while the Lasers improve to 4-3 overall and
1-1 in the league.
Tiffany Hamilton (El Modena HS) led the Lady Dons with a team-high 11 kills and two blocks while Jennifer Kohlenberger (Orange Lutheran HS) and Korina Fryslie (Trabuco Hills HS) each handed out 13 assists. Kohlenberger also had a team-high 12 digs followed by Jennie Bui (La Quinta HS) who had nine.
Katie Martinez and Whitney Gaeta each had nine kills apiece in the Lasers' win while Nicole Peterson collected a game-high 16 digs and three ace serves. Audrey Sipkovich finished with nine digs while Brittany Harkey tallied four blocks for Irvine Valley.
Next: Santa Ana will travel to Huntington Beach on Friday, October 8 to face conference-leading Golden West College at 7 p.m.

SANTA ANA, CA – The Santa Ana College women's volleyball team dropped its Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opener, 3-0, to visiting Riverside College , Friday. The Tigers downed the Lady Dons in three straight games 30-17, 30-16 and 30-20 to improve to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the OEC.
The loss drops the Lady Dons to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the league.
D'Ann Gorman led the Tigers' offensive attack with 15 kills in the win. Reanna Conenna added 11 kills and had a game-high four blocks for Riverside while Nickie Reichling finished with 38 assists. Jasmin Rivas led the Tigers with 17 digs.
Jennie Bui (La Quinta HS) and Tiffany Hamilton (El Modena HS) each had a team-high six kills while Korina Fryslie (Trabuco Hills HS) handed out 14 assists. Bui had 11 digs to go along with her six kills while Sarah Goins (La Habra HS) finished with nine digs of her own.
Next: Santa Ana will host Irvine Valley College in Orange Empire Conference women's volleyball action on Wednesday, October 6 at 7 p.m.

SANTA ANA, CA – The Santa Ana College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth and deciding game in its non-conference match against Southwestern, only to drop the tie-breaker, 15-11. The Lady Dons lost the first two games to the visiting Jaguars, 30-10 and 30-20, before bouncing back to win games three and four with scores of 30-22 and 30-10, respectively.
In the fifth game, both teams battle through 11 ties and six lead changes before Southwestern broke an 11-11 tie by scoring the final four points for a 15-11 win. The loss drops the Lady Dons to 0-4 on the year while the Jaguars improve to 1-3.
Nicole Silva (Valencia HS) led Santa Ana with 19 kills while Korina Fryslie (Trabuco Hills HS) handed out a team-high 29 assists. Tiffany Hamilton
(El Modena HS) recorded a game-high 25 digs and Itzel Martinez (Anaheim HS) had a five aces service for the Lady Dons.
Grecia Garcia and Michelle Holper led the Jaguars with 10 and 5 kills, respectively. Holper, Garcia and Lea Chidester each had two blocks apiece in the win.
Next: Santa Ana will travel to Glendale College on Wednesday, September 29 for its final non-conference match which is set to start at 5 p.m. The Lady Dons will open up Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play on Friday, October 1 when they host Riverside College in a match that will start at 7 p.m.

SANTA ANA, CA – The Santa Ana College women's volleyball team fell to
0-3 with a 3-1 loss to visiting Rio Hondo College, Wednesday. The Lady Dons dropped the first two games to the Roadrunners, 30-19 and 30-20, before rallying for a 30-22 win in the third game. The Roadrunners, who improved to 2-2 overall, used a 10-1 run to close out Santa Ana, 30-10, in the fourth game.
Nicole Silva (Valencia HS) and Itzel Martinez (Anaheim HS) led Santa Ana with eight and seven kills, respectively, while Korina Fryslie (Trabuco Hills HS) had a team-high 20 assists. Tannia Grijalva (Santa Ana HS) had a game-high 37 digs followed by Jennie Bui (La Quinta HS) who finished with 17. Silva also led the Lady Dons with seven blocks including three unassisted while Martinez recorded three assisted blocks of her own.
Offensively, Rio Hondo was led Jaclyn Valdez who had 12 kills and Iris Gonzalez who finished with nine aces. Sally to had 20 digs for the Roadrunners while Perla Garcia handed out 27 assists in the win.
Next: On Saturday, September 18, Santa Ana will host the 2004 Santa Ana College Preview Tournament. Matches are set to start at 9 a.m. in Santa Ana College's Cook Gymnasium.
