Flores Wins OEC Championship in Hammer Throw
SANT ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's track & field team finished in fifth place with 38 points in the 2009 Orange Empire Conference Championships held at Orange Coast College.
The Dons were led by Jessica Flores who won the conference championship in the hammer throw with a distance of 136'6". Flores also took second place in the discus and sixth place in the shot put.
Diana Zapata led the Dons on the track as she had a pair of fourth place finishes in the 800M and 1500M runs. Zoila Garcia also performed well on the track as she took fifth place in the 10,000M run.
With their top-six finishes, Flores, Garcia and Zapata each qualified for the Southern California Finals to be held on May 2nd and 9th at Mt. San Antonio College.
Riverside College took the overall team championship followed by host Orange Coast College in second place with Fullerton College taking third place.
