Sandy Gonzalez Wins Second Straight OEC Title

COSTA MESA, CA - The Santa Ana College women's track and field team finished in seventh place with 23 points at the 2008 Orange Empire Conference Track and Field Championships at Orange Coast College.

Sophomore Sandy Gonzalez (El Modena HS) was the lone conference champion for the Dons as she won the high jump event with a leap of 1.65 meters. She won the conference championship in the high jump last season as well. Gonzalez also took fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.05 meters.

Freshman Belen Cervantes (Western HS) finished sixth in the 1,500 meter run to earn three points with a time of 5:04.50. The SAC women's 4x400 meter relay team also finished in sixth place with a time of 4:24.75 to earn three points and qualify for the Southern California Community College Track and Field regional finals.
