McCarron, Cruikshank Earn OEC Top Honors
SANTA ANA, CA - Santa Ana College women's track & field coach Jim McCarron and sophomore Elle Cruikshank were both honored by the Orange Empire Conference coaches on Monday (April 25) as the OEC Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year and OEC Women's Track Athlete of the Year.

In just his second year as the head coach, McCarron guided the Dons to a second place finish at the OEC Track & Field Championships held at Saddleback College on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23. The Dons scored 136 points in the meet and tied Fullerton College in the team standings.
Cruikshank, meanwhile received the conference's top individual honor after winning her second consecutive OEC heptathlon title (4,173, school record), the 100 hurdles (15.85) and 400 hurdles (1;04.33). She was also a member of the Dons' 4x100 relay team that captured the conference crown in a time of 50.2 and a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished second (4:24.10). Cruikshank rounded out the meet with a fourth- and sixth-place finish in the javelin (110' 10") and high jump (4' 8"), respectively.
The former Foothill High School-product, who repeated as the Southern California Regional heptathlon champion, finished second in the heptathlon at the 2004 California Community College state track & field championships as a freshman. Last year, Cruikshank was honored by the conference coaches as the OEC Field Athlete of the Year.
