Santa Ana Finishes Second at OEC Championships
MISSION VIEJO, CA - The Santa Ana College women's track & field team scored 136 points and tied Fullerton College for second place at the Orange Empire Conference Track & Field Championships, Saturday. Orange Coast College won the meet with 248.3 points followed by Santa Ana and Fullerton.
Elle Cruikshank led the Dons by winning her second consecutive OEC heptathlon title (4,173, school record), the 100 hurdles (15.85) and 400 hurdles (1;04.33). She was also a member of the Dons' 4x100 relay team that captured the conference crown in a time of 50.2 and a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished second (4:24.10). Cruikshank rounded out the meet with a fourth- and sixth-place finish in the javelin (110' 10") and high jump (4' 8"), respectively.
Jeymie Gonzalez was the Dons only other event champion when she captured the hammer throw with a toss of 123-9 outdistancing Fullerton's Viridiana Villanueva.
Santa Ana also received a strong performance from Allison Taylor who captured a pair of second place finishes in the 100 (12.91) and 200 (27.41) and a third place finish in the long jump with a leap of 16-10. Like, Cruikshank, Taylor was also a member of the 4x100 winning relay team that also featured Ciesha Primous and Andrea Cantrell.
Primous, meanwhile, racked up points by placing second in the triple jump (36-2-1/4) and seventh in the long jump (15-9-3/4).
Cassandra Power finished fourth in the hammer throw (116-9) and sixth in the shot put (33-8-1/2) for the Dons.
