Fullerton Nips Santa Ana, 69-67
FULLERTON, CA - Santa Ana College and a trio of double-event winners but it wasn't enough as host-Fullerton College nipped Santa Ana College, 69-67, in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) women's track & field, Thursday.
Cassandra Powers won both the shot put (33' 5") and javelin (80' 3") while Allison Taylor captured event titles in the 100 (13.3) and 200 (28.5). Elle Cruikshank remained undefeated in both the 100 and 400 hurdles winning both events in 16.3 and 1:08.1, respectively.
The Dons finished in second in six other events led by Andrea Cantrell who finished runner up in the 200 (28.6) and 400 (1:08.1). Taylor, who won events, added second-place finishes in the long jump (15' 0") and triple jump (27' 1"). Cruickshank was second in the high jump (4' 6") while Cynthia Aguilar added a runner-up finish in the 1,500 (5:43.6).
Aguilar also placed third in two other events, the 800 (2:52.3) and 3,000 (13:15.7). Veronica Gonzalez tallied three third-place finishes in the 100 hurdles (21.7), high jump (4' 6") and triple jump (26' 1").
