Cruikshank Caps Career With State Heptathlon Title
SACRAMENTO, CA - On Saturday (May 14), Elle Cruikshank capped off her two-year career at Santa Ana College by winning the women's heptathlon title at the 2005 California Community Colleges Commission On Athletics Track & Field Championships held at American River College, May 13-14, in Sacramento, California. Cruikshank, who broke her own school record for the second-time this season, scored 4,618 in the seven-event competition to easily outdistance Cerritos College's Jacqueline Taylor who finished second with 4,283 points.

The former Foothill High School-product won the shot put (10.81m); finished second in the 100-meter intermediate hurdles (15.55), 200-meter dash (26.32) and high jump (1.55m); and claimed third-place honors in the javelin (32.53m), long jump (4.99m) and 800 (2:26.59) to capture the state title. Cruikshank scored all 13 points for Santa Ana College which finished 19 th in the team standings. She added a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (1:05.51) to go along with her state heptathlon title.
In her two years at Santa Ana College , Cruikshank won back-to-back Orange Empire Conference (OEC) heptathlon titles and Southern California Regional heptathlon titles and a California Community Colleges Commission On Athletics Track & Field state heptathlon title. Her only second-place finished in the heptathlon came at the 2004 California Community Colleges Commission On Athletics Track & Field Championships when she was a freshman.
