Lisa Hawich Qualifies for SoCal Regional Finals
SANTA ANA, CA - Lisa Hawich qualified for the Southern California Regional tennis finals after making it to the quarterfinals of the Orange Empire Conference Championships.
Hawich won her first round set over Riverside College's Ashley Tebeau in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-4. She followed that performance with a second round victory over Vanessa Lee of Fullerton College 6-1 and 6-3.
Her quest for the conference title ended in the quarterfinals against top-seeded Brittany Bass from Orange Coast College. Bass won in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0.
Despite losing in the quarterfinals, Hawich was able to qualify for the SoCal Regional Finals for a chance to go to the State Championships. The regional finals will be held May 1 through May 3 Hawich also competed in the doubles competition with teammate Victoria Perez. The duo weren't able to get out of the first round as they lost 6-1 and 6-3.
