SANTA ANA, CA - Jenny Caldwell scored two second-half goals as visiting Fullerton College downed Santa Ana College, 3-0, in Orange Empire Conference women's soccer action, Tuesday.
Caldwell broke a scoreless tie with her first goals in the 58th minute and made it 2-0 with her second goal 17 minutes later. Megan Shires tacked on Fullerton's third goal in the 90th minute.
Debbie Landeros gave up all three Hornets' goals while recording seven saves. Fullerton's Linda Bautista stopped six Santa Ana shots in recording the shutout.
Santa Ana closes out the 2004 season with a 9-9-1 overall record and 8-8 conference mark while the Fullerton improved to 10-6-3 overall and 9-5-2 with the win.

SANTA ANA, CA - Danielle D'Amico and Sarah Bjelland each scored once as Saddleback College shutout Santa Ana College in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) women's soccer, Friday.

D'Amico scored the only goal the Gauchos
(9-7, 6-7) would need on a penalty kick 13 minutes into the contest while Bjelland made it a 2-0 affair when she scored from 15-yards out off a pass from Lauren Sapp in the 47th minute.
D'Amico's penalty kick was set up when she was taken down by Santa Ana's Perla Rodriguez inside the box.
The Lady Dons (8-7-1, 7-6 OEC) outshot Saddleback 13-10 overall and 10-4 on shots on goal but came up short. The Gaucho's Shannon Hilliker recorded 10 saves on the day and outdueled Lady Dons goalkeeper Debbie Landeros who gave up two goals while stopping two Saddleback shots.
Veronica Gonzalez and Teresa Delgado led Santa Ana with three shots each.
Next: Santa Ana will travel to district-rival Santiago Canyon College on Tuesday, November 2 for another OEC women's soccer match at 3 p.m.

SANTA ANA, CA - Eight different Santa Ana College players scored at least one goal in the Lady Dons 11-0 win over Irvine Valley College in Orange Empire Conference women's soccer action, Friday. Mimi Hernandez (Saddleback HS) led Santa Ana with three goals while Maria Zuniga (Century HS) added two as the Lady Dons broke a two-match losing streak and improved to 7-6-1 overall and 6-5 in the OEC. The loss drops the Lasers to 0-11-1 overall and 0-11-1 in the league.
All three of Hernandez's three goals game came in the first half as Santa Ana built a 5-0 lead at the break. Veronica Gonzalez (Valencia HS), Teresa Delgado (Savanna HS), Yareth Vargas (Santiago HS), Marika Patterson (Los Alamitos HS), Lupe Ramirez (Westminster HS) and Alex Aguilera (Saddleback HS) each had one goal apiece for the Lady Dons.
Irvine Valley goalkeeper Makenzie Lang who faced 32 shots came away with 13 saves.
Next: Santa Ana will travel to Riverside Community College on Tuesday, October 26 for another OEC women's soccer match at 3 p.m.

FULLERTON, CA - Santa Ana College shut out its second opponent in as many outings as the Lady Dons blanked Fullerton College, 2-0, on Friday. Santa Ana, who beat Golden West College, 10-0, on Tuesday, has outscored its last two opponents, 12-0.
Lupe Ramirez (Westminster HS) scored both goals in the Lady Dons's win over the Hornets.
Next: Santa Ana will begin the second round through its Orange Empire Conference foes when the Lady Dons travel to Costa Mesa on Friday, October 15 to take on Orange Coast College at 3 p.m.

SANTA ANA, CA - Santa Ana College 's three-match winning streak came to an end, Friday, as district-rival Santiago Canyon College downed the Lady Dons, 8-1, in Orange Empire Conference women's soccer action.

Santiago Canyon 's Darlene Sasso scored three goals, all in the second half, as the Hawks (7-0-1, 5-0) remained undefeated in OEC action. Stephanie Lambkin, who gave the Hawks an early lead, scored two goals and was followed by Lindsay Crancer, Kim Horn and Alley Basehart who each finished with one goal.
Santa Ana 's Veronica Gonzalez (Valencia HS) scored the Lady Dons only goal in the 80 th minute off a pass from Lupe Ramirez (Westminster HS). Goalkeeper Nancy Mejia (Mater Dei HS) recorded seven saves and gave up six goals against the Hawks while Debbie Landeros (Costa Mesa HS) was touched for two goals.
Next: Santa Ana will look to get back on the winning track when the Lady Dons host Golden West College in OEC women's soccer action on Tuesday, October 5 at 3 p.m.

SANTA ANA, CA - Sarah Ronquillo's goal with six minutes remaining gave the visiting Orange Coast College women's soccer team a 2-1 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) win over Santa Ana College (SAC), Tuesday. Ronguillo scored off a pass from Christian Crosson that beat Debbie Landeros with the game-winning goal. The loss dropped the Lady Dons to 1-2-1 overall and 0-1 in the OEC while OCC improves to 4-0-1 and 2-0 in the league.

SAC took a 1-0 lead when Alex Aguilera (Saddleback HS) drilled a shot past Kara DeMille at the 24 th minute mark of the first half. Aguilera's goal came off an assist by Rebeka Roth.
The Pirates managed to tie the game in the final minute of the first half as Crosson knocked in a mishandled save attempt my SAC goalkeeper Nancy Mejia. Crosson finished the game with one goal and one assist.
SAC's Mejia and Landeros both finished with three saves for the Lady Dons while OCC's DeMille collected two saves in the win.
OCC out shot SAC, 14-4, in the win
Next: SAC will host Cypress College in another OEC match on Friday, September 17 at 3 p.m.

SANTA ANA, CA - Freshman midfield Maria Zuniga's (Century HS) goal from 30 yards out in the 87th minute helped the Santa Ana College (SAC) women's soccer team earn a 3-3 tie in its home season-opener against visiting Chaffey College, Friday. The Lady Dons (1-0-1) overcame a 3-0 halftime deficit with three unanswered goals in the final period to come away with the tie.

Chaffey (0-1-1) built a 3-0 lead behind Martha Alfaro's three first-half goals. Alfaro gave the Panthers their early lead with her first goal at the 12 th minute mark of the first half. She took a pass from Brittany Fisher and knocked it in from eight-yards out. Alfaro made it 2-0 with her second goal at the 28th minute and gave Chaffey a 3-0 with her third goal just before halftime (44th minute).
In the second half it was all Santa Ana as the Lady Dons out shot the Panthers, 14-2, in the period. Rebeka Roth (Estancia HS) cut the Chaffey lead to 3-1 with a goal at the 58th minute while Lupe Ramirez (Westminister HS) drew the Lady Dons to within one, 3-2, with a goal seven minutes later (65th).
Zuniga tied the game at 3-3 with her shot from 30-yards out that went off the finger tips of Panthers' goalkeeper Cara LaShock with three minutes left. The Lady Dons took advantage of their one person advantage for the final
15 minutes as Chaffey's Cassie Deal picked up her second yellow card and was disqualified at the 75th minute mark.
Next: SAC will travel to Rio Hondo College on Tuesday, September 7 to take on the Roadrunners in a non-conference match scheduled for 3 p.m.

WILMINGTON, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's soccer team opened its 2004 campaign in fine fashion as it handed host-Los Angeles Harbor College (LAH) a 11-1 loss in the season-opener for both teams.
Lupe Ramirez (Westminster HS) led the Lady Dons (1-0-0) with four goals followed by Mimi Hernandez (Saddleback HS) and Maria Jimenez (Estancia HS) who each chipped in with two goals apiece. Teresa Delgado also added one goal and one assist in the rout.
Goalkeepers Debbie Landeros (Costa Mesa HS) and Nancy Mejia (Mater Dei HS) combined for four saves in the win. Landeros, who played 45 minutes, stopped three Seahawks shots while Mejia stopped one shot attempt in her 40 minutes of action.
Santa Ana will open the home portion of its 2004 season on Friday, September 3 at 4 p.m. when it hosts Chaffey College in a non-conference soccer match. |
