SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's soccer team suffered its first loss in seven games after losing 2-1 to visiting Orange Coast College in an Orange Empire Conference match.
Kallie Ryker gave the Pirates (11-4-1, 7-4-1) an early 1-0 lead when her long shot arched just under the crossbar and above the outstretched arm of Cortnee Kleidon in the fifth minute.
Ryker struck again in the 32nd minute to give OCC a 2-0 lead when she beat Kleidon to a loose ball and tapped her shot into the open net. The Pirates took the 2-0 lead into the half after out shooting the Dons 7-2.
The Dons (11-4-1, 7-4-1) cut into the Pirates lead early in the second half when Salina Ortiz' corner kick was misplayed by OCC keeper Alyssa Simon and rolled into the net.
The Dons pushed late in the game but were unable to find the equalizer as the lost the game 2-1. Kleidon shut out the Pirates in the second half making two of her four saves in the game. Simon finished the game for OCC with three saves.
