SANTA ANA , CA – Santa Ana College 's (SAC) women's soccer team fell 3-2 to visiting Victor Valley College (VVC) after taking an early 1-0 lead. The Dons dropped their season-opener for the second straight year with the loss.
The Dons didn't waste any time scoring their first goal of the season when Michelle Frain (Garden Grove HS) scored off a pass from Daisy Ramos (Loara HS) in the first minute of play.
VVC answered in the 22 nd minute with a goal by Brittnie Bernardino to tie the game at 1-1. Ashley Van Horn and Rosyli Reveron each scored a goal before the end of the first half to put the Rams up 3-1.
Despite several shots in the second half, neither team was able to find the back of the net until Dulce Sixtos (Esperanza HS) sent a long pass ahead to a streaking Nancy Garcia (Foothill HS) who scored a goal to pull the Dons within 3-2 in the 75 th minute.
SAC was able to manage a handful of scoring attempts after that but were unable to tie the game up as it lost 3-2 in the season opener. Alexiz Villanueva (Katella HS) made three saves and gave up three goals in the first half. Teammate Ely Ureno (Chapparral HS) made five saves while shutting the Rams out in the second half.
