Santa Ana Holds on to Defeat Golden West

SANTA ANA , CA – Esther Aceves (Century HS) scored both goals for Santa Ana College (SAC) who defeated Golden West College (GWC) 2-1 in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) women's soccer game.

The Dons offense got rolling quickly when Aceves was able to take the ball away from the goalie and score putting SAC up 1-0 in the 10 th minute. She scored again in the 30 th minute when Ariana Jabaz (Orange Lutheran HS) sent a header high in the air, when it came down to the ground it fell right in front of Aceves who put it in the back of the goal.

GWC made a late charge and Courtney Mallett pulled the Rustlers within one when she scored on a free kick from just outside the box. However, the Dons were able to hold off the attempt by GWC and held on for the 2-1 victory.

With the win, SAC improves its record at 5-6-3 and a 3-4 mark in conference play. The Rustlers fall to 1-10 on the season and are still looking for their first win in OEC play.
