Esther Aceves Gets Hat Trick in Dons' Victory

SANTA ANA , CA – After losing their first two Orange Empire Conference games, Santa Ana College (SAC) has won two straight to improve its record to 4-4-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

After recording a 5-0 win at Irvine Valley on Friday, SAC came home on Tuesday and defeated Riverside College 3-2, behind three goals by Esther Aceves (Century HS).

The Dons scored first in the seventh minute on a goal that was generated by crisp passes. Nadine Allouche (Laguna Hills HS) sent a touch pass to Lucero Galaviz (Foothill HS) who quickly passed the ball in front of the goal setting up Aceves from point blank range.

After Aceves scored again in the 30th minute to give SAC a 2-0 lead, RCC cut the lead to 2-1 minutes before half time. The Tigers later tied the game at 2-2 in the 65th minute.

The game seemed headed for a tie when Aceves took a long pass from Grace Cardona (Katella HS) and streaked down the sideline and took a shot at an impossible angle only to have it hit the opposite post and into the goal for the game-winner.

Alexiz Villanueva (Katella HS) made seven saves as she played the complete game and gave up the two RCC goals.
