Hunter, Santa Ana Run Winning Streak To Three
SANTA ANA, CA - After starting the season with five straight loses Santa Ana College has bounced back with three wins of its own including a 55-36 decision over visiting Cuyamaca College, Monday. The win improves the Dons to 3-5 overall heading into Orange Empire Conference action.

Freshman guard Ahkiah Hunter scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Dons to their third consecutive win. Hunter connected on 6 of 10 field goals and 8 of 14 free throws against the Coyotes. Sol Pachecho, who scored seven points, finished with a game-high nine rebounds in the win. Kelly Chavez added nine points while handing out six assists.
Despite shooting just 27 percent in the second half, Santa Ana outscored Cuyamaca, 27-15, limiting the Coyotes to 4 of 16 shooting in the final 20 minutes. The first half was a different story as the Dons converted 43.5 percent of their shots (10 of 23) to take a 28-21 lead at intermission.
Adriana Malone had a game-high 21 for Cuyamaca who fell to 1-10 overall. Malone was 7 of 21 from the field and 4 of 6 from the line. Amy Hoyt added 12 points on 6 of 9 shooting before fouling out with 7: 56 remaining.
Next: Santa Ana will open the 2005 portion of its schedule at Riverside College in the Orange Empire Conference opener for both teams on Wednesday, January 5. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
