SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's basketball team lost to visiting Cypress College 68-65 in an Orange Empire Conference basketball game. The loss drops the Dons to 15-9 overall and 4-4 in conference while Cypress improves to 7-16 and 3-5.
Cypress led 33-25 at half and quickly extended its lead to 41-28 four minutes into the second half. The Dons rallied back to tie the game 52-52 late in the half.
The teams traded the lead abck and forth up to a 64-64 tie with two minutes remaining. Cypress broke the tie with a lay-up and held on for the win. SAC had two chances to tie the game in the last eight seconds but was not able to convert.
Heather Couzens (Pacifica HS) led all scorers with 37 points but it wasn't enough for the Dons. Jamie Glover (Villa Park HS) was the only other SAC player in double digits with 11 points.
