SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's basketball team defeated visiting Golden West College (GWC) 82-51 in an Orange Empire Conference basketball game. The victory improves the Dons to 2-0 in conference play and 13-5 overall while the Rustlers fall to 6-11 and 0-2 in conference.
Caitlyn Holley (Aliso Niguel HS) opened the game with a three-point basket and SAC held the lead for the remainder of the game. The Dons' defense played strong throughout the first half holding GWC to less than ten points for the first 13 minutes of play.
After holding a 49-20 half time lead, SAC continued to control the game through the second half to earn the 82-51 victory. The Dons' defense held the Rustlers to just 30% shooting for the game.
SAC was lead by Heather Couzens (Pacifica HS) who scored 21 points, 19 in the first half. Jamie Glover (Villa Park HS) and Cassie Rico (Century HS) each scored 14 points in the victory.
