SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's basketball team defeated visiting Long Beach City College (LBCC) for the second time this season 83-57 in a non-conference basketball game.
The game was tied at 5-5 early in the first half before Heather Couzens (Pacifica HS) hit a lay-up to put the Dons up 7-5. SAC went on to lead the entire game after that. LBCC stayed close throughout the first half and was within two points at 29-27 with two minutes to play. The Dons closed out the first half with a 9-2 run, giving them a 36-29 lead at the half.
SAC quickly extended its lead to 20 points at 55-35 seven minutes into the second half and continued to dominate the game all the way to the end.
Couzens led all scorers with 26 points and 14 rebounds followed by 14 points from teammate Mariella McElroy (Saddleback HS). Linda Lomeli (Saddleback HS) scored 13 points and Lauren Kribell (Western HS) had 10 rebounds.
