Dons Complete Season Sweep of Orange Coast

SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) softball team defeated visiting Orange Coast College 5-1 to complete the season sweep. The win improves the Dons to 12-22-1 overall and 4-15 in Orange Empire Conference play while the Pirates fall to 6-24 overall and 0-16 in conference.

The Dons were held hitless through the first two innings before Cheyenne Ryan led the third inning off with a single through the right side. She was followed by Katlyn Harp who laid down a bunt single that advanced Ryan to third.

Ryan scored the first run of the game on a passed ball followed by Bre Dravis who singled to centerfield scoring Harp to put the Dons up 2-0; Dravis advanced to third on an error on the play but was stranded.

The Dons added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-out rally. Amanda Patrick started the rally with a single followed by Ryan who walked.

Harp singled to right field and Patrick pushed for a play at the plate and scored when Nicole Silva dropped the ball; Ryan was able to score when the ball got away from Silva.

The Pirates answered in the top of the fifth inning when Kayse Potter led the inning off with a triple for one of the Pirates two hits of the game. She scored in the next at bat when Kayln Lee reached on an error.

Dravis scored the final run of the game for the Dons as she led the fifth inning off with a walk and later scored on a RBI-double by Shannon Halverson.

Alicia Remigio picked up her third win of the season over OCC as she pitched a complete game allowing one run on just two hits with four strikeouts.
