SAC Committs Seven Errors in 7-3 Loss to Riverside
SANTA ANA , CA - Santa Ana College (SAC) was unable to complete the series sweep over Riverside College as the Dons lost to the Tigers 7-3 in the final meeting between the two teams. SAC (20-17, 7-9) committed seven errors that lead to seven unearned runs by the Tigers (24-16, 9-7).
The Dons committed their first error on the second play of the game that set up a run for the Tigers later in the inning. Two errors in the third inning put Riverside up 3-0.
SAC battled back in the fifth inning to tie the game at 3-3. Stacin Halverson (Western HS) started the rally with a single up the middle of the infield followed by a single to left-center by Alicia Remigio (Valencia HS).
After a passed ball advanced the runners, Rachale Gamson successfully laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Halverson. She was followed by a RBI-single to right field by Natalie DeLeese that scored Remigio. Finally, Breanna Dravis (Villa Park HS) hit a single through the left side that scored DeLeese for the tying run.
However, the Dons committed two errors in each the sixth and seventh innings that led to four more runs for Riverside. Remigio suffered the loss in the game despite not allowing a single earned run. She pitched seven innings and allowed eight hits with one strikeout.
