Dons Unable to Comeback in 7-3 loss to Saddleback

SANTA ANA, CA - Santa Ana College (SAC) lost to visiting Saddleback College 7-3 in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game Wednesday afternoon at the SAC Softball Field.

The Gauchos (7-4, 1-2 OEC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and later added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a commanding 7-0 lead. The Dons (9-7, 1-2 OEC) narrowed the gap in the bottom of the sixth inning as sophomore Jenny Kulp (El Modena HS) and freshman Jackie De La Riva (Santa Ana HS) each drove in a run to make it 7-2.

Freshman Breanna Dravis (Villa Park HS) hit a sacrifice fly-out to right field in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it 7-3. Freshman Elyse Parr (Villa Park HS) then walked to load the bases bringing the tying run to the plate. Two pitches later Kulp hit a long drive to left field that was caught at the fence to end the game.

Dravis finished 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk to lead the Dons. Sophomore pitcher Loren Harrell (Tustin HS) recorded the loss for SAC, while Lauren Molina picked up the win for Saddleback.
