Dons Score Six Runs in the Fifth to Defeat East LA
SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College (SAC) softball team picked up its first victory in its new stadium in a 9-2 victory over visiting East Los Angeles College (ELAC). The Dons scored six runs in the fifth to improve to 9-6 on the season. The loss drops ELAC to 6-5.
SAC held a 3-2 lead going into the fifth inning and with two outs the Dons' bats came alive. Rachel Blake (Villa Park HS) got the inning started with a two-out infield single followed by a walk to Rachale Gamson (Kaiser HS). Vivian Torres (Perris HS) doubled to left-center field scoring both Blake and Gamson.
Breanna Dravis (Villa Park HS) then singled in Torres for SAC's third run of the inning followed by a walk to Elyse Parr (Villa Park HS). After Jenny Kulp (El Modena HS) singled to right field scoring Dravis, Parr was able to score on a throwing error. Kulp scored the final run of the inning when Jackie De La Riva (Santa Ana HS) doubled to center field.
Loren Harrell (Tustin HS) pitched three innings in a start for the Dons and was relieved in the fourth by Alicia Remigio (Valencia HS) who picked up the win.
