Kim Nutter
Head Coach, 12th year
Head Coach Kim Nutter returns for her 12th season at Santa Ana College.
Nutters
282-185-3 overall record during her tenure is unparalleled in Santa Ana
history as Nutters Lady Dons qualified for the state playoffs in
seven straight seasons (1995-2001).
During the 2000 campaign, the Lady Dons upset top-ranked Fullerton College
in the regional finals and advanced to the state tournament. Along the
way, Nutter was named Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Coach of the Year.
In 2003, Santa Ana was 18-19-1 overall and 10-8 in the OEC (4th place).
A product of Marina High School in Huntington Beach, Nutter lettered
in softball, volleyball, basketball and field hockey before attending
Golden West College where she played softball and volleyball.
At Marina, Nutter was part of two California Interscholastic Federation-Southern
Section (CIF-SS) 4A championship softball teams and was named player-of-the-year
for her efforts in 1979.
At Golden West, she participated on the 1979 volleyball and 1981 softball
teams that won California community college championships. Following
the championship in 1981, Nutter was named California community college
player-of-the-year for her pivotal role with the Rustlers.
Nutter then transferred to Cal Poly Pomona where she played softball,
volleyball and soccer. She received all-America status in softball while
earning her bachelors degree in physical education. She later went
on to get her masters degree in education from Cal State Dominguez
Hills.
Before coming to Santa Ana, Nutter was the head women's volleyball and
softball coach at Rio Hondo College for three seasons (1985-88) and was
named Foothill Conference Coach of the Year for softball twice. She led
the Roadrunners to a conference championship in 1988.
In 1998 Nutter participated in the pro league with the Tampa Bay Firestyx.
On July 1, 1991, Nutter was named head coach for Santa Ana College. In
addition to her coaching duties, Nutter is a full-time instructor in
the exercise science division.
