Santa Ana Loses 1-0 to Fullerton in Pitcher's Duel
SANTA ANA , CA – The Santa Ana College (SAC) softball team lost to visiting Fullerton College 1-0 in an Orange Empire Conference game. The Dons (22-19, 8-11) held Fullerton (31-15, 12-7) to only four hits but managed only four themselves.
Ali Cano led the game off with a solo home run to center field that put the Hornets up 1-0 and went on to be the game-winning hit. Following the home run, Loren Harrell (Tustin HS) shut Fullerton down for the remainder of the game as she allowed only three more hits, one in the first inning.
The Dons threatened to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jenny Kulp (El Modena HS) hit a double to left field followed by a single by Elyse Parr (Villa Park HS) that advanced Kulp to third. After a pop-out, Kulp was tagged out on a fielder's choice at third base and the threat was ended.
