SANTA ANA, CA – Santa Ana College (SAC) lost its Orange Empire Conference opener to visiting Santiago Canyon College (SCC) 7-1. The loss drops the Dons to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play while the Hawks improved to 9-2 and 1-0.
SCC scored its first three runs in the second inning, two coming off a home run with two outs. All three runs were unearned. The Hawks added a run in the third, another in the fourth and the final two in the seventh.
SAC scored its only run in the sixth inning when Vivian Torres (Perris HS) singled up the middle of the infield. She scored in the next at-bat when Elyse Parr (Villa Park HS) doubled down the left side.
