Santa Ana Drops Home Opener to Cerritos 7-3

SANTA ANA, CA – Santa Ana College (SAC) lost its home opener to Cerritos College 7-3 in eight innings in a non-conference softball game. It was the Dons first game in their new softball complex.

Cerritos scored a run in the first and third innings to take an early 2-0 lead. SAC cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth inning as freshman Rachel Blake (Villa Park HS) singled to score freshman Breanna Dravis (Villa Park HS) from third base. Dravis doubled to centerfield and took third on a wild pitch earlier in the inning.

The Dons tied the game an inning later as sophomore Vivian Torres (Perris HS) tripled to right field with two outs and later scored on a passed ball.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the top of the eighth inning, Cerritos sent five runners across the plate to take a 7-2 lead. SAC rallied for one run in the bottom of the inning, but was unable to get any closer as the game ended at 7-3.

Pitcher Jessica Navarro finished with two RBIs as she picked up the win for the Falcons (6-0). Freshman pitcher Alicia Remigio (Valencia HS) suffered the loss for the Dons (2-2).
