Santa Ana Wins Season Series Against Fullerton
SANTA ANA, CA – Santa Ana College (SAC) received another dominant pitching performance from Ashly Perdue (La Mirada HS) as the Dons defeated Fullerton College (FCC) 2-0 in an Orange Empire Conference softball game.
SAC scored its only two runs in the bottom of the first inning while taking advantage of two Fullerton errors. Jenny Kulp (El Modena HS) reached on an error and later scored when Heather Hamilton (Edison HS) hit a single through the middle of the infield. Vanessa Hardway (Edison HS) also reached on an error allowing Perdue to bat who then hit a single scoring Hamilton .
The Hornets threatened to score in the third inning but Hardway threw out Amanda Nemeth at home plate from center field to keep FCC from scoring. FCC was able to get runners into scoring position again in the fourth inning but Perdue struck out two batters in a row to end the inning.
Perdue pitched a complete game shut out to pick up the win for the Dons and improve to 14-9 on the season. She scattered four hits across seven innings with nine strikeouts, all with the batter swinging on the third strike. |
