SANTA ANA, CA – Santa Ana College (SAC) took a half game lead over Fullerton College in the Orange Empire Conference softball standings with a 6-1 victory over visiting Orange Coast College (OCC) behind the solid pitching of Ashly Perdue (La Mirada HS).

Diana Quezada (Santa Ana HS) led the game off with a triple to right field and later scored when Jenny Kulp (El Modena HS) hit a sacrifice fly to right field. The Dons added two more runs in the third inning when Quezada led the inning off with a walk and scored on a Kulp double. Kulp later scored when Tiffany Campos (Corona del Mar HS) reached base on an error.

Heather Hamilton (Edison HS) led the fifth inning off with a single followed by another single by Campos . Perdue knocked both runners in with a single to right field, helping her own cause. She later scored when Cheyenne Ryan hit a single to center field.

Perdue (13-8) pitched a complete game to pick up the win allowing only two hits in seven innings. She allowed one run, a solo home run to OCC's Chelsea Evers in the fifth inning which was the only Tiger base runner to go farther than first base.
